Why we think our Fire Alarm Engineers are remarkable

C&M Fire Alarms have been in business nearly 50 years and in that time we’ve built up from a few engineers travelling from our base in Horsham, up to London and down to the coast, to a large team of experienced and qualified engineers now travelling all over the South East. Our base still remains in Horsham as does our hearts, supporting the local football team (Go Hornets), as do all our families working in the business. But none of this would be at all possible were it not for the engineers that install, maintain, test and fix the various fire alarm systems.

Fire Alarm Technicians & Engineers

No day will be the same working as part of C&M! From care homes to schools, railways stations to residential flats, retail stores to commercial factories, fire alarms must be installed, maintained, and serviced 24/7 365 days of the year. Our engineers may be on-call, whatever the time or weather. They may also need to negotiate a variety of technical problems, installation troubleshooting and working on-site at various locations. They deliver solutions to our clients, often face to face, building long-term working relationships. They often get to see their hard work come together when we design and install a fire alarm system.

We like the opportunity to offer jobs locally and train our own staff but sometimes engineers come to us a qualified electrician, working with fire systems these roles have much training which overlaps, but as a fire alarm technician, you need specific training and qualifications.

Specialists in the field

Each engineer has an ongoing product and technical training in addition to professional training, like those from industry bodies including the FIA. We are proud to be accredited by BAFE as Design, Installation, Commissioning/handover & Maintenance of Fire Detection & Alarm Systems. Our engineers are experienced, accomplished and deliver our services with great expertise. Often working in safety crucial roles, they also undergo training for health and safety, asbestos and working on railway tracks (RISQS). We are so very proud of all their achievements.

Wearing the C&M uniform

Our engineers are well equipped with their own vehicle, specialist tools, PPE, business mobile, uniform and tablet. Our online systems mean our job sheets have much less paperwork for our engineers. Our system can monitor travelling and working hours and keep an online record of our client calls outs, faults, maintenance and service history, allowing C&M to help and track issues far easier.

Continuing great service, even at difficult times

During this pandemic, we are taking extra measures to ensure our engineers and clients are safe on-site. Those working in the fire industry and services are classed as key workers. Fire alarms must be working and maintained at all times so safeguarding has never been so important. You can read more about our Health & Safety measures here on our blog. Another reason we at C&M Fire Alarms think our engineers are truly outstanding.
